Shane Rose and Taurus win the 3* at Sydney ODE
Another tough choice for selectors is looming with both Shane Rose and Chris Burton in top form. The Sydney week of eventing proved that the Sydney International Equestrian Centre is one of the leading venues in Australia catering for huge numbers of competitors and providing yet another new cross country course for all levels. Shane Rose and Chris Burton were again battling it out for first place in the 3*, making the Australian team selectors' decision tougher and tougher. Both riders are in top form, both have horses peaking at the right time and both are hard to pass in on for an Australian team being sent to the World Equestrian Games in Kentucky. Shane and Taurus, sitting in second place, jumped a clear round putting the pressure on Chris and Jaybee Calypso who punched out two of the rails in the tight triple moving them into 2nd place. Chris was also 3rd on Newsprint who has recently returned from injury. The final selection event for the Australian WEG Team will be held at the Sydney Three Day Event scheduled for 26-29 August. This is set to be a thrilling event with Sydney 2000 Gold medalist Stuart Tinney also in top form along with the female silver medailsts from Beijing, Megan and Sonja also winning many of the recent big events.
