Important Updated Information for ENSW Affiliated Clubs - Working with Children Checks
As all our affiliated clubs are aware, the Commission for Children and Young People Act 1998 requires that all volunteers (including committee members) working in a club environment who come into contact with children must fill out a Working with Children Declaration form and submit this completed form to their clubs. Now the policy requires that volunteers must also have some form of ID verified at the time of lodging their WWC form. Clubs must comply with this as it is embodied in a legislated Act and it is an important risk management tool to protect both children in involved in our activities and our clubs. For more information regarding your obligations in this area and to access the updated Working with Children Declaration from please visit this website www.kids.nsw.gov.au . The form can be directly accessed by clicking here.
Please keep in mind these important points.
-
Every volunteer that comes in contact with children must fill out the Working With Children Check.
-
The Volunteer is only required to do this once and the club must retain this form. If the volunteer does not assist at that club for more than 12 months, they must fill out a new form.
-
If a Volunteer has filled out the previous working with children form they are not required to fill out the new Working with Children form.
-
There will be on the spot checks from the Department to Clubs, therefore they must have these records on hand.
