Administration of Eventing in NSW

Eventing is a discipline of equestrian sport. In NSW, eventing is administered by the Secretary, Vicki Burgess, who is answerable to a Board of elected members and representatives of the affiliated clubs who run the competitions.

It is registered for GST. Its ABN is 51 880 659 119.

Affiliations

Eventing is affiliated with the NSW Branch of Equestrian Australia and through them with Equestrian Australia and its National Eventing Committee (NEC).

The NEC develops and administers the technical aspects of Eventing (rules and regulations for the sport) while the NSW and National offices of Equestrian Australia provides services to members implementing policies determined by their relevant Boards.

Equestrian Australia acts as National Federation for the International Equestrian Federation (FEI), the Australian Olympic Committee (AOC), the Australian Paralympic Committee (APC) and the Australian Sports Commission (ASC).

Support

The sport of Eventing is supported by a small core of professionals and a huge number of volunteers, from board and committee members to officials, organisers and helpers at events. It is the volunteers who make the sport work.

The NSW Institute of Sport supports our elite riders, funding training clinics in all three disciplines. In turn, these riders are encouraged to provide training for other members on a user pays system on the same days.

Its roles

Eventing NSW has a number of roles apart from advising and assisting riders on all aspects of the sport, including::

• to represent NSW eventers on the National Eventing Committee and disseminate appropriate information
• to provide advice and support to Event Organisers and oversee an up-to-date web presence with useful information for members and the general public.
• to develop and refine systems that enable the collection and analysis of data for the National Database of riders, horses and competition results.
• to encourage members to take up official roles and provide training and support by organising seminars and demonstrations
• to assist in improving rider safety and protecting the welfare of horses.
• to expand the image and profile of eventing
• to establish and further develop contacts with decision-makers to generate greater support for the discipline of Eventing.
• to source commercial sponsorship opportunities and on-going exposure in the general media.
